That’s why ErotisNews contacted the popular Polish site pornoman.pl to talk about pornography and find out if Poles are watching more porn, what their preferences are, what it’s like to work on a site offering pornographic content, and what impact legal regulation of pornography might have on such sites.

Users can find there thousands of free porn movies divided into many categories – said a representative of pornoman.pl. – What distinguishes us is the quality of posted movies, as well as accurate categorization. Porn movies posted on our portal are specially selected by administrators and meticulously categorized so that users can easily find what they are looking for.

When asked if they create their own productions, the representative replies – We do not make porn films on our own. Although our friend tried his luck in this industry. Interestingly, as it turned out – The problem was the access to actors of both sexes. I suspect they don’t want to know more – he continued.

What does it look like to work on an adult content site?

Many people find working in the adult industry derogatory and cannot imagine themselves in it. Others, on the other hand, imagine way too much, that working in the adult industry is every man’s dream come true. However, the truth is that it is exactly like any other job.

Legal regulation of pornography

The growing popularity of adult content and its widespread availability has led an increasing number of countries to consider regulating pornographic content on the Internet. Verification of age and personal data of performers and uploaders, the necessary consent of actors/amateurs for publication, or even, as in the case of Russia, the necessity to report a request to the government for access to pornographic content, are just some of the ideas that can be found.

In Poland, the topic of limiting access to pornography has been returning like a boomerang for many years. When asked about the regulation of pornography, a representative of pornoman.pl said – I’m all for regulating pornography, as long as it’s done by people who know a lot about data security, usability, and the Internet in general. In Poland, I can’t imagine a database of who watches what kind of porn, because it’s material for the ruling party to intimidate people. The problem also lies in the fact that we are ruled by old people who don’t care about data security. Politicians who are constantly leaking passwords to e-mails and databases and who don’t care about RODO. If such record-keeping was introduced in our country, it would take a week and the data would leak.

He also added what he thinks about the new rules that MasterCard wants to put in place for the adult industry. Among them are documents requiring proof of personal information, age, and consent from all the people who appear in all the videos that are found on porn sites.

In response to the question of whether the preparation of such documents is possible, the representative reassures – Yes, it is possible. Pornhub has removed nearly 10 million videos from its database and left only those whose owners had proper documentation of the rights associated with them. Such regulations will both reduce piracy and the so-called revenge porn when a partner makes private sex recordings available on the Internet.

Nevertheless, the representative of pornoman.pl notes that MasterCard’s plans have already affected the running of the site – I’d like to remind that the vast majority of our movies came from Pornhub, which was affected by MasterCard’s action. Half of the movies that were on my site ceased to exist, but I reacted instantly, patched up the holes, wrote appropriate programs to disable the inactive content and the site is doing fine now.

Pornography in Poland

Poles are not eager to share their experiences in bed, and when it comes to pornography, it’s a total taboo. – Theoretically it should be so, however, it is hard to say because the pandemic coincided with an update of Google’s algorithm and the pages in the results were reshuffled so it is hard to say whether the viewership increased due to the pandemic or because of changes in the search results.

While the representative couldn’t reveal which search terms are most frequently used by Poles, he generally referred to the most popular categories – Among Poles, classic categories such as MILFs, teenagers, or amateurs are still very popular.

Polish pornographic productions

Unfortunately, when asked whether Poles watch Polish productions, the representative said – It depends on the person. In general, most prefer foreign productions, because they are more professional and of better quality. Polish porn is a niche for amateurs.

It is not that surprising though. Anyone who knows Polish porn productions knows that their level is far from world standards. There are Polish studios which are very popular, but they are closer to amateur recordings, than to the production of, for example, Marc Dorcel. On the other hand, what can be found in Polish pornographic magazines is often more likely to scare than excite.

When asked why the Polish porn industry is so far behind world standards, a representative of pornoman.pl replied – It’s mostly due to the Polish mentality based on Christian values, which hampers intellectual and carnal development. Watching porn is still in the public opinion a embarrassment and a reason to be ashamed. Acting in porn is already a stigma and social exclusion. We are parochial and intolerant. And the Catholic Church is to blame for everything. Fortunately, the situation is slowly changing, but it will take a few more generations to catch up with countries that are more hospitable to pornography.

Undoubtedly, Poles as a society still have a very conservative attitude towards pornography, erotica, and even towards sexual education or contraception. Mainstream Polish productions such as Sexify or increasingly numerous organizations and events connected with sexual education are slowly changing this. However, even they approach the subject of pornography very, very cautiously, if at all.

Taking into account the Mediapanel report, we can definitely say that Poles are interested in pornography. And despite appearances, working in this industry does not mean that you are a so-called ‘pervert and degenerate’. It is the same as any other job, and differs only in the type of product and content.

It is the fear of being judged that makes Poles so negative towards pornography. However maybe, as the pornoman.pl representative suggests, this mentality is slowly changing and in a few generations, Poles will stop criticizing pornography during the day, and secretly consume it at night.
