Joanna Angel mocks censorship in ‘Shadowbanned’

Burning Angel officially announces the release of its surreal new feature, ‘Shadowbanned’, an acerbic commentary from writer and director Joanna Angel on social media’s restrictive measures on sexual content.

Co-founded in 2002 by award-winning Joanna Angel, Burning Angel is now one of the most recognisable adult studios, offering a refreshing blend of sex, rock n’ roll and pop culture. Since its inception, Burning Angel has grown from an indie company to an internationally known brand and now offers over 1500 productions.

In the studio’s latest production called ‘Shadowbanned’, Jessie Lee takes center stage as an adult film star who is trapped inside another dimension with no voice to be heard, while popular influencers Angel, Rocky Emerson and Maddy May get away with freely posting anything and everything on their high-profile social accounts.

Angel, who calls the film “an open letter to Instagram… with sex in it”, came up with the story’s concept out of frustration with social networks using covert and underhanded methods of shadowbanning – blocking content from public online viewing without a user’s knowledge – to deliberately censor sex workers on their platforms.

In true Burning Angel fashion, Angel’s ambitious horror-fantasy-comedy, which also stars Dante Colle and Codey Steele, fuses the alt porn icon’s “comedic sarcasm” with a “campy, spooky” setting – just in time for Halloween!

“The entire cast and crew worked very hard on this labor of love. I’m so incredibly proud of this for so many reasons, and I can’t wait for the world to see it!”

Shadowbanned‘ and other Burning Angel productions are accessible to all members of Gamma Films studios’ sites, as well as on the AdultTime.com platform.
