Does video quality matter when watching porn? As one of the most visited websites in the world, Pornhub has been committed to ensuring that their users receive the highest quality experience when using their platform. Unfortunately, it appears that phone company OnePlus does not share the porn platform’s commitment and is blocking the use of MEMC technology on OnePlus 9 Pro phones.
MEMC – Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation, is a technology long used in TVs, but has also recently appeared in OnePlus phones. The purpose of MEMC is to artificially create and add frames to a video in order to make the transition between frames smoother and increase the frame rate. The technology has both its supporters and opponents. One of the main objections against MEMC is the blurring of the image when watching a film in slow motion.
Mishaal Rahman while looking through the list of apps that can use MEMC technology discovered that while Pixelworks which is responsible for creating this technology allows Pornhub to use it, OnePlus has blocked this possibility. Of course, this doesn’t mean that on OnePlus 9 Pro phones you can’t watch porn on the Pornhub. Such a possibility is still there, only without MEMC support.
However, one wonders why the company has made this decision and is not allowing pornhub to use this technology on its phones? Is it due to technical issues? Or is it just another small step in the increasingly frequent attempts to restrict access to pornography on the internet?
