Startup Vortex Bladeless has presented to the world its idea for new turbines that generate electricity. However, it is their appearance that arouses most emotions. Their shape definitely resembles traditional huge vibrators, in addition, they have a flexible head and, in a way, they also vibrate.
The 3-metre-high turbines have already been labelled as ‘skybrator‘. With their phallic shape, they are more reminiscent of an erotic toy than a complex device generating electricity.

Looking at the above picture, it is indeed hard not to have associations with classic vibrators. However, despite appearances, the turbines developed by the startup aim to create a new form of obtaining electricity in built-up areas and where classic “windmills” threaten birds.
The upper part of the device is flexible, which means that it starts to move gently when exposed to the wind. It is these movements that create the vibrations that are meant to generate electricity. Although Vortex Bladeless has not yet produced anything, it has already received funding for the project from the European Union and Norwegian electricity supplier Equinor. This means that while the project is still in development, it definitely has potential. And it is worth noting that larger 140 metre versions of the turbines are also in the pipeline.
Hopefully the project will work out, then we will have a new renewable energy source. And on top of that, I don’t know what would be better… huge vibrators scattered across rooftops and fields, or seeing, for example, a purple turbine advertising the Bgood Classic vibrator from Bswish.
