Maltese and Icelanders chose Eurovision over Pornhub

For many years, the Pornhub platform during various big events, such as presidential elections or UEFA finals, has shared information on how they affected traffic to their site. This time, Pornhub decided to present data related to the Eurovision final.

The Eurovision Song Contest is the oldest international event involving artists from European countries. It had its beginning in 1956, and in 2021 the 65th edition was held. The final of this year’s contest took place on 22 May in the Netherlands city Rotterdam.

Although both Destiny from Malta and Daði Freyr from Iceland were among the favorites, they failed to win the final. However, both countries were victorious in another ranking… Pornhub has released new statistics showing traffic on the site during the Eurovision final.

As the 26 performers sang and viewers from across Europe televoted for their favorites, we saw major changes to Pornhub’s normal traffic levels before, during and after the Eurovision finale show as often happens with hotly-anticipated televised events – Pornhub said.

The average traffic on the Pornhub platform on May 22, between 9pm and midnight, dropped by -34% for the Maltese and by -30% for Iceland. This means that porn consumption on that night dropped by a third in those countries! This result was significantly higher than other countries. In third place was Lithuania with a decrease of -22%.

However, not all countries saw a decline in porn consumption. For countries like Spain, Sweden and Israel, the difference in Pornhub traffic was between -2% and +1%. Which means that in these countries, the Eurovision final had no impact on porn viewing.
