A week ago, Pornhub announced a campaign to encourage its users to visit museums and see artworks that show the beauty of the naked body. Apparently, however, the adult platform’s interesting idea didn’t appeal to everyone. The French museum Louvre has sent its lawyers to Pornhub and plans to sue the platform.
The ‘Classic Nudes’ campaign was created by Pornhub to encourage its users to visit either in person or virtually some of the world’s most famous museums. The project offers a virtual guided tour by Pornhub ambassador Asa Akira of museums such as the Louvre, MET, Prado, Uffizi Gallery, National Gallery in the UK and Musee d’Orsay. The platform has also created pornographic recreations of some of the sexually explicit works on display at these museums.
‘The Daily Beast’ reported that the Louvre in particular is not happy with the project and has ordered its lawyers to contact the platform. According to a Louvre spokesperson – We expect the work to be removed at once.
The Louvre is not the only museum in the ‘Classic Nudes’ project that intends to file a lawsuit against the adult site. Italy’s Uffizi Gallery is also upset about its participation in the action.
– No one has granted authorizations for the operation or use of the art – a spokesperson for the Uffizi in Italy said. – In Italy, the cultural heritage code provides that in order to use images of a museum, compressed works for commercial purposes, it is necessary to have the permission, which regulates the methods and sets the relative fee to be paid. All this obviously if the museum grants the authorization which, for example, would hardly have been issued in this case.
It seems that despite the fact that Pornhub had good intentions and probably wanted to warm up their image, which suffered a lot in recent months, they are again in trouble. The lack of contact with the museums they included in their campaign may now turn out to be another problem for them which will end in a lawsuit.
