Porn activist Cherie DeVille’s latest article for The Daily Beast tackles free speech and Twitter. Cherie pleads her case to protect porn stars to Twitter’s new potential owner and free speech advocate, Elon Musk.

In the  “Why Elon Musk Should Protect Porn Stars on Twitter” artice, Cherie points out Musk’s promise to make Twitter a free speech haven for all users, and how those plans must include performers in the adult industry.

With most social media platforms censoring and deplatforming porn stars, Twitter has remained one of the few platforms to allow adult content. Cherie discusses how advertising on Twitter allows herself and other performers to sell the content they work hard to create.

But Cherie isn’t just pointing out censorship; she’s also ready with some solutions that would be helpful. One thing that has been talked about is age verification. By requiring users to upload identification documents, Cherie says, algorithms can keep minors away from adult accounts. Cherie also discusses the legality of porn and the end of deplatforming pornographers

“With Elon Musk being seen as a free-speech champion, I needed to make my voice heard about the censorship of pornography,” Cherie commented. “I am grateful that The Daily Beast allowed me to speak my mind and allow me a way to reach out to Elon Musk to please consider free speech for all, including myself and my fellow performers.”
