The growing popularity of the Twitch.tv platform among adult stars and Plexstorm’s technical issues have led one of the world’s most popular adult streaming platforms, Chaturbate, to decide to give its creators the ability to play video games during live broadcasts.
As Chaturbate explained in its Chaturbate Games (CB Games) introductory announcement, “CB Games is a platform for game developers and publishers to submit their games in order to give Chaturbate broadcasters permission to play their games while live streaming on Chaturbate.com”.
“Chaturbate is thrilled to release this much-anticipated feature and give broadcasters an opportunity to diversify their shows,” said Shirley Lara, Chief Operations Officer for Chaturbate. “We see a lot of video game enthusiasts broadcasting on Chaturbate and we are happy to provide them with a platform to play their favorite games. We can’t wait to see what other games get added.”
Video game developers can add their productions to a special list of approved games via a dedicated page available here. Additionally, Chaturbate encourages its developers to contact the authors or publishers of their favorite games that are not yet on CB Games to encourage them to create an account on CB Games and submit their game.
This is an interesting opportunity for developers of games with sexual content. Given the popularity of Chaturbate, this has created a new venue for them to promote their games. Just as game developers often persuade various creators on Twitch.tv to play their games in order to promote them, erotic game developers will now be able to have a similar partnership with creators from Chaturbate.
To get started with any of the approved video games, the person broadcasting on Chaturbate can simply go to the ‘Games’ tab and select an interesting game to play during their show. Using software such as OBS, will let to stream the game on feed. The game will appear on both screen as well as the broadcast box.
Chaturbate’s step into video gaming appears to be aimed, among other things, at gathering former users of Plexstorm, which since its inception has continually suffered from technical problems and seemed to be shut down more often than running. Plexstorm advertised itself as a site for adult gamers where they could play any game they wanted while doing whatever they wanted in front of the camera. Currently, Plexstorm is shut down again and it is possible that it will never return. Therefore, Chaturbate may become the new home for creators from this platform.
Admittedly, Chaturbate Games doesn’t seem to be a popular feature at the moment, but it’s possible that as more ambitious and popular games emerge, more creators will take advantage of this feature.
