In order to educate the public and fight against the spread of STDs, the Argentine Minister of Health has issued a tender for the purchase of numerous educational tools. Among them are also 10 thousand wooden penises.
As reported in the newspaper ‘La Nació‘, in response to the spread of venereal diseases, including HIV, viral pneumonia and tuberculosis in Argentine society, the government has decided to purchase tools to educate the public. The entire investment is expected to cost AR 13,371,100$ (the US 138,964$, at the official exchange rate).
Among the items to be purchased are 10,000 condom dispensers that will be manufactured so that they can be hung in public buildings or 10,000 turquoise suitcases. However, the item that caused the biggest stir in the Argentine media and on social media platforms was about 10,000 wooden penises.
The wooden penises are to be used for education in various public centers. As it can be found out from the tender, the wooden penises must meet 2 conditions: They must be at least 17 centimeters long and they must be thoroughly polished so that they are completely smooth.
Just to chase away wacky thoughts right away, it should be added that penises don’t need to be coated with body-safe varnish. This means that they will only be used for demonstration purposes, such as how to put on a condom, and not for body stimulation.
It was also emphasized that all of the equipment purchased will not be issued to Argentine residents. Instead, it will be distributed in packets of 100, to primary health care centers, treatment centers, and rural and urban medical facilities throughout the country.
